Friday prayer: tips for students
- Jumuah ends around 2 pm at most Melbourne mosques, so plan your classes and appointments around it, and ask your university to adjust times if they clash.
- In the CBD, campus prayer rooms are the closest option: RMIT holds Jumuah at 1:30 pm in Building 47, and the University of Melbourne holds two congregations during semester.
- Check the khutbah time in Go Pray! before you leave, as some mosques hold more than one Jumuah in summer.
- Arrive early: large mosques get busy and parking is limited, so public transport is usually easier.
- Carry a light prayer mat in your bag, as some campus prayer rooms ask you to bring your own.
- Some campus prayer rooms need your student card activated for entry, so activate it in your first week.
Eid prayer in Melbourne
- The Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) announces Eid, and mosques announce their times the night before.
